Cleaning

I did some cleaning last week, threw out a bunch of stuff and even a HD converter box because it was missing a remote.
Cleaned up my tool boxes to the point where to box would close.

This weekend I cleaned some more, including the forever hopeless wire box.  I used the bags of air to just sort and contain everything. It was shocking when the lid closed and didn't spring back open. Destroyed most old documents.  Now I will never know what I bought in 2005 and 2008.  Spoilers - I bought a lot in 2005 including my first good mouse and a ton of other computer hardware which is now worth roughly -$30 (the price to properly dispose of it all).

Most of the goods associated with those purchases were discarded already.  Not because they weren't working but simply because they were obsolete and "not worth keeping around" because "if you need it in the future you can just buy it".  Holding those two philosophies close to heart I just junked a lot of stuff.  It doesn't help that I had nothing better to do, I was just bored.  Part of the thing to remember is sentimental or future values are irrelevant.  I guess you have to look at it as if you haven't used it in recent times then it has no value.

My surround sound system had a part that failed, and the HD converter box that I trashed last week had the exact part I needed. Hmm. Like he said http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049727 just buy a new one and who cares about recycling.
