I have had a few people mention the concept of moving. It's an absurd idea but it makes me think.
First it is absurd because of what it involves. I know someone who is working on moving to California right now and I find it really impressive how they seem to have it all planned out. I don't think anyone seriously needs me here. My in person friendships have always been rocky and if I were to move no one would really miss me. At home I am simply around, the only time I have a specific set of skills that are useful would be my computer skills. If I moved, the beauty of Team Viewer would shine and it kinda makes my presence unnecessary as well. I think my relationship with work is mutual but I know everyone is temporary and what that implies is there is no such thing as getting rewarded for hard work. Shareholders hold the power and they want to see profits. With that said I have gained a little bit of experience and although my education and certifications have not changed, I fortunately have a little something that can be written on a resume.
Anyways I have chatted with people all around the world.
I don't think I would really want to move to an Asian country. I know there are more international areas of China, but language would undoubtedly be a barrier. A country like Singapore sounds really cool and might be the only Asian country I have a chance of surviving in especially if you consider the languages they speak and overall safety. Of course I would have absolutely nothing to offer in either of those places. I simply have a generic set of skills which isn't really unique.
Canada might be cool. I am well aware our stereotype is far from accurate. They aren't always polite and they don't live in igloos. Besides that I don't know, the location makes it seem like it will be terribly cold. I like cold but I don't think I have ever visited anywhere THAT cold. Their government doesn't have a solution to all our problems, their phone and internet is more limited, and their healthcare system probably has issues I don't know of. And I think their biggest tech company is Blackberry.
Speaking of tech companies the bay area seems like the place to be. I like the weather there. I find the women there more attractive, I don't know how or what it just happens that way. It is the land of the tech companies and it just seems so nice. I know my lack of ambition would not help me outshine anyone there and I can only imagine CS majors there are a dime a dozen. I blame the media for that. I have watched documentaries about semiconductor development and the growth of software seriously go watch semi-fiction Jobs it will make you feel like anything is possible if you were an arrogant asshole. They made it look like he didn't even need to be good at writing software or know his electronics. We see the remains of the ideas from the .com era and more importantly are aware of all the computer science graduates who hoped for the idealistic work environments and even more idealistic pay and stock options. Many moved on but I'm sure there are many overqualified individuals who have better credentials than myself.
The idea is cool, I know my mentality is wrapped in a false sense of security where things are safe. A hope where a slow and steady will get me somewhere good. A leap of faith would have the potential of changing things so much.
