Ham

Ham brings back memories from high school when I had ham sandwiches almost daily for at least a year.  Often the sandwiches would be room temperature by the time it was lunch.  That reminds me of elementary school where packing a lunch was even more cumbersome.  It was cumbersome because it always took up more room than a book and added bulk to the back pack.  Occasionally a water bottle or worst yet a bottle of juice bursts and all I can think is I didn't ask for this as papers melt away.  Even if the bottle did not burst and mom froze a unit of liquid so it would keep the lunch cool and be something cold to drink during lunch there would still be problems like condensation melting a book cover or the drink remains frozen.  Worst yet it never felt like I could eat in the cafeteria with the rest of the normal people.  Why is that? I don't know but I usually ate outside on benches or stairs where without a doubt is not as comfortable as an air conditioned cafeteria with (presumably) clean tables and chairs unlike the neglected and dusty benches or dirty stair cases that often smelled like sour milk because someone liked pouring it there.

It's hard to imagine how I even manage to tolerate ham.
