Quiet days

This one isn't about my social life for once.Perhaps I should tag this with work. I don't know how the work load comes with other departments but I do know IT.

In IT it is hard to justify working overtime because we often need the operator to test our solution.  And it is just as hard to justify when you don't look busy. This kind of work comes in waves and is pretty much needed only when things are going bad.  Then when you think it does, shit hits the fan to make sure you're stressed to the right levels.

I assume other departments have a set of goals that they are trying to reach before a certain deadline. For that reason, everything they do will seem like a high priority task for us to resolve, even if it appears to be a trivial task on our end.

The last two days has been pretty slow, I have had a chance to wipe my desk and pick up the cage a little. I have taken the opportunity to complain about how things are slow.  But I often forget to embrace this slow time to do what I want and like.  I still have a list of things to do on my list of tickets but people often don't seem to understand that they need to participate in this process.  You want a program installed?  Get approvals, wait for licence, and actually be around so I can find you.

Ah feels like time for me to check the status of the printers!
